Model-Based Systems Engineering/Conceptual Design for Space Systems
The methodology which is based on system engineering and system architecture principles and is enabling a rigorous model-based concept development for space systems. It allows the system engineer to develop a concept from the scratch, based on stakeholders needs. The methodology enables interfaces management using Dependency and Structure Modeling (DSM) methods and decompose the system into appropriate level of granularity, keeping track of conceptual similarity between alternative concepts. It also provides a quantitative measure of conceptual distance between competing alternative concepts. The proposed approach enables concurrent engineering design environment at early stages of design process.The models are built using such conceptual modeling languages as SysML and OPM.
